GOAL #1 Network with institutions and organizations to promote educational opportunity for Hispanics OBJECTIVE 1: Establish partnership with community-based organizations, high schools and colleges/universities on educational activities OBJECTIVE 2: Encourage individuals and institutions/organizations to become members of the Association OBJECTIVE 3: Create awareness of need and promote college enrollment, retention and Graduation GOAL #2 Represent and advocate for the educational and professional development of the Hispanic community OBJECTIVE 1: Promote HAHENJ as an advocate within the higher education community OBJECTIVE 2: Maintain political presence and leverage OBJECTIVE 3: Encourage participation in intellectual development activities and promote professional advancement within higher education OBJECTIVE 4: Promote the establishment of articulation programs GOAL #3 Monitor and evaluate educational and legislative policy of federal, state and/or local authorities OBJECTIVE 1: Identify relevant public policy and legislative issues OBJECTIVE 2: Establish a position on selected educational and legislative issues OBJECTIVE 3: Develop public policy and legislative agendas to influence issues affecting Hispanics in higher education GOAL #4 Compile and disseminate information concerning educational issues at the federal, state and local levels OBJECTIVE 1: Inform the community at-large of issues relevant to Hispanics in higher education OBJECTIVE 2: Empower HAHENJ, Inc.'s community to address and advocate on pertinent issues OBJECTIVE 3: Serve as a depository for and informant of data relevant to educational issues GOAL #5 Development of Association resources OBJECTIVE 1: Capital gain OBJECTIVE 2: Attainment of human resources OBJECTIVE 3: Attainment of an office and resource center The HAHENJ Strategic Plan was adopted by the Council and the Association membership in May 2000. |
